Freshmen and transfer students met with officers on Oct. 15 and 17 to create a roadmap for their academic endeavors. The workshop was highly encouraged for all students, especially freshmen and transfer students taking the Introduction to Civil Engineering course. Attendees folded an 11"x17" piece of paper into eighths and broke up their college years into each rectangle. Officers would then come around to answer questions, advise what classes to avoid taking at the same time and check that all course work was accounted for. Officers also showed members useful online links from the Planned Course Offerings & Technical Electives page to finding out what Advanced Placement credits counted toward general education units. The Four-Year-Plan Workshop was a part of the Finding Your Foundations program, where ASCE hopes to introduce and integrate more freshmen and transfer students into affiliated clubs such as Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe and GeoWall and integrate them into the civil engineering community at Cal Poly Pomona.
